2008; Elmquist & Segrestin, 2009; Seuring, 2010). Besides the environmental impact, social actions carried out by companies can also generate a significant return, such as positive corporate image and economic gains (Petrini & Pozzebon, 2010). There has been a growing interest in the adoption of sustainable practices in the automobile supply chain and an increase in the number of publications related to the cause-andeffect relationships of such practices; however, there is a lack of research that organizes these practices as well as a lack of research on performance measures used to measure the benefit of such practices. Many of the studies focus on presenting isolated results from specific manufacturers. Chaharbaghi and Willis (1999) point out that many authors focus on discussing theoretical models of sustainability rather than presenting the results of actual practices. In this sense, this article aims to identify the main practices and sustainable performance measures in the automotive sector. This article is divided into five sections, including this introduction, a presentation of the research methodology, a literature review focusing on identifying the main practices and performance measures of sustainable operations in the automotive sector, a presentation of the organization of practices and performance measures and a categorization of the studies; this is used to propose a research agenda. Finally, the conclusions from the research are reported and suggestions for future work are provided.
